Job Summary: The Senior Fire Alarm Systems and Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing comprehensive designs for fire alarm systems, fire suppression, and fire protection solutions. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing fire protection systems in various commercial and industrial settings, ensuring adherence to local, national, and internation codes and regulations. Excellent competency of AutoCAD and REVIT is required. This designer will be a self-sufficient, independent member of their team. Providing leadership and guidance to other team and department members. |
Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include: - Manage Division 21fire protection, division 28 Fire detection, and Alarm System Specifications.
- Create and review Fire Protection Systems plans for commercial construction.
- Sizing/routing mains
- Sizing/locating fire storage tanks
- Sizing fire pumps/pump houses
- Locating standpipes
- Creating riser diagrams
- Creating drawing details
- Reviewing and commenting on contractor product data and shop drawing submittals.
- Create and review Fire Alarm System plans for commercial construction.
- Sizing and locating main fire alarm control panel
- Locating addressable and notification devices
- Design of voice evacuation notification systems
- Design smoke evacuation/control systems
- Design detection and release for clean agent gaseous and foam systems
- Creating fire detection and alarm system device drawing details
- Reviewing and commenting on contractor product data and shop drawing submittals.
- Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Possess the ability to review and interpret architectural plans and contractor submittals.
- Coordinate with EMA designers, architects, general contractors, and subcontractors regarding issues in the field.
- Stay informed about advancements in fire alarm and fire protection systems, as well as updates to codes and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers, and other team members.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure project goals are met on time and within scope.
- Be Familiar with and able to interpret codes (NFPA, IBC,etc) and industry standards NFPA chapters associated with the above Fire Alarm Systems and Fire Protection.
- Conduct field work as needed for design which may include but is not limited to extensive walking, the ability to drive to a job site, climbing on a ladder, crawling through crawlspaces, attic spaces, over parapet walls, and walking on a roof.

Education/Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
- NICET Level 3 Certification or higher for Fire Alarm Systems and/or Fire Protection.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with water-based sprinkler design (wet, dry, foam, pre-action) and fire alarm design, including voice evacuation.
- Experience with clean agent system design (preferred).
